~ Mini Mules ~

Manny

Manny was rescued in 2020 with his sister, Libby.

We aren’t sure how, but Manny is actually much larger than our other miniatures. Both of Manny’s parents are also significantly smaller than he is. So, we aren’t exactly sure where his size came from…

Manny is a quiet and standoffish guy, but he loves a good scratching once he gets to know you. He has slowly come out of his shell over the years and is quite the “lovebug”!

Libby

Libby was rescued in 2020 with her brother, Manny.

Libby is the opposite of Manny in almost every way possible. She is smaller, her coat is much darker, and most of all, she is LOUD.

Libby loves scratches, especially on her butt. However, there is one thing Libby loves more than a good scratching. Grain.

Libby is sweet as can be, but she can also be a drama queen at times. We still love our little “Libby Lou” though!

Freddie Mac

Freddie Mac (mini horse) is the most shy of the minis. It takes a lot of time for him to warm up to people. Trying to catch Freddie can be a huge challenge, as he prefers to be a free spirit. However, once caught and haltered, Freddie turns into a calm good boy eager to please. Fannie May is his older sister.

Donkeys & Mini Donkeys

Speedo

Speedo the mini donkey is everyone’s favorite. He has been to cancer walks, Palm Sunday services, parades and other social gatherings. He LOVES people, and people love him. Speedo is always happiest when he is the center of attention. He will bray when he sees people, and never turns down pets and hugs. Sadly, Speedo is currently in liver failure from overeating when he was younger. The veterinarian staff at WoodHaven closely monitors his health with blood work every few months. He has giant fat packs along his belly and a fat neck roll called a broken crest. Nothing can reverse the damage, but we watch him to ensure he is happy and comfortable and as healthy as possible.

Casper

Casper the Friendly Donkey arrived at WoodHaven with Clover the llama in May 2022. He had been the guard donkey at the llama farm since the mid 1990s, and had not been handled much. Casper has significant hoof issues as well as metabolic issues, but he is so trusting and caring. We think he knows he is retired now and can spend his days being pampered. He is adjusting to life on a dry lot and with good dry hay, and he gobbles up his daily ‘treat’ which contains medication to ease his pain. Casper has extra deep bedding to stand in as an extra cushion if he is hurting. There are rubber mats everywhere, and he chooses when he prefers to stand/lay down on mats or in deep shavings. Casper continues to amaze us as he trusts us to work on his hooves and bathe his skin infections. He wants so badly to please us humans. He has a long way to go before his hooves are where they need to be, but he has fighting spirit and won’t give up.

There’s no way to tell how old he really is, but best “guestimate” after examining him would be well over 30 years old.

Jenny

Jenny came to WoodHaven in the fall of 2025. She was accompanied by her friends, Harry and Merle.

She came to us with Laminitis. Laminitis is a painful disease that affects the hooves and hoof walls. While there is no cure, we can manage it with daily supplements and medications as needed.

When Jenny arrived, she could barely walk due to her Laminitis. Now, she can move comfortably thanks to a healthy diet and her supplements. She even trots around occasionally, when she feels frisky!

Harry

Harry came to us with Jenny and Merle in the fall of 2025.

Like his friends, Harry struggles with some metabolic issues. We feed a high-quality hay diet to prevent any further metabolic issues.

Despite his metabolic issues, Harry is still a happy guy! He loves attention once he gets to know you. He also likes to “supervise” or “help” with whatever you’re doing. Harry is one handsome boy, and he is our largest donkey!

Merle

Merle arrived with Harry and Jenny in the fall of 2025.

The first thing you may notice is his gorgeous coat. Merle is handsome, but his strongest trait is actually his personality! He is the most social out of his friend group. We typically call him “Merle the Menace” because he is always trying to get into trouble.

Aside from his shenanigans, Merle is a very sweet boy who loves to make new friends!

Horses

  • Aquilla

Aquilla was born in 1997. She is a sweet but shy girl, who is always at the bottom of the pecking order in the herd. She’s the smallest of the horses, but this doesn’t faze her! She suffered a bowed tendon (similar to severely sprained ankle in humans) in early 2021 and had a horrible time healing with that injury. She spent 8 months at vet barn with multiple trips to Purdue Vet clinic for surgery and repeated casts. She will always walk with a limp, but rest and occasional anti-inflammatory medications keep her happy.

  • Ransom

Ransom was born at the original WoodHaven Farm, and he grew up to be a HUGE horse! He must have been a lap dog in a previous life. Ransom will follow you everywhere, tug on shirt tails, pick up and toss buckets, and pretty much get into any and everything that isn’t secured in place... And even things that are!
